Outrunning the Dragon
Sprint!
I leave the gate, running feverishly
To outrun the fire-breathing dragon
Smoke on my neck
Fire on my heels
I dash across these pages,
Running like a mad woman,
Lest the dragon-critic
GULP
Then belch forth Hell, the Inferno,
In her breath
And destroy my art
Before it leaves my pen.
