Dr. King

Today
Marks the day
You marched into an
Unknown pool of death
‘Cause somebody wanted you
Quiet
And instead of merely mass
Weeping
Someone’s tears became
Riots.
I wasn’t around
To hear you speak
I wasn’t there
For those historic weeks
But as an amalgamation
Of Black, White, and Red
I owe a mountaintop
To what you said.
What you said
Inspired millions
What you did
Was worth millions
And I am not ashamed
To be here
And I am not ashamed
Of your Gospel
of color
Liberation.
