Sex

Can you dissect
Sex?
For some a reflex,
For some it reflects
The love and longing
That abide inside
Those swept away in the tide
Of another person’s universe.
For some, it’s a curse.
There are some that do nurse
Their emptiness and loneliness
And sex much becomes a crutch.
Some flee
The sea
And its rushing hormone tides
Because of still raw wounds inside,
And some believe the lie
That those who partake die.
Yet some do drown there
In that sea and never resurface for air
And some are swept away
To a lonely reef
In the not-so-specific
Island stream of broken hearts.
Yet others are torn apart.
But the smart course to take
To try to avoid heartache
Is to guide your boat,
See the signs
And the lines
On the map to your heart’s
And love’s desire.
Now I’ll retire
My words
With one more thing
To reflect -
You must respect
Sex.
