Heels

I could never walk in heels.
The best I can do is kittens,
And I don’t meow -
I CLOP-CLOP-CLOP
Down the hallway
As my one hundred and eighty-eight pounds
Pound down
On marble
Catholic school floors.
Don’t even ask me to run -
Breaking heels or ankles
Ain’t no fun;
But this big girl
Makes big noises
As these heels sound out my arrival
Like castinets -

And I have no regrets.
