Be
This poem is dedicated to everyone.

——————————————————-
Be strong;
Be healthy;
Be here.
Live not as mere margins
On history’s pages,
Or forgotten footnotes,
Failed to be read
Until you’re dead
And gone.
Be strong;
Be healthy;
Be here.
Stand up,
And stretch the whole height of your body
To the sky;
Stand up,
With your eyebrows brushing
Against the clouds.
Stretch forth your hand
And curl your fingers and palm
Around that bright orange of a sun.
Hold your head high,
And hold that sun in your hand;
Behold the sun in your hand.
Be strong;
Be healthy;
Be here.
Your have the power.
Let not the breath of the small-minded
Blow you away into oblivion
Because of the color of your skin,
The size of your body,
Or anything else that don’t fit
Into some folks’ mundane universe of bullshit
And conformity.
Stand tall to the sky
And shake down your fear.
Be strong;
Be healthy;
Be here.
