Pity Party

Friday, June 6, 2008

This is a Chaucerian roundel written off of a prompt from Scott Wood’s journal – http://scottwoods.livejournal.com/. Today’s prompt was: “A meeting that goes on so long it becomes something other than a meeting.” Enjoy.

————————————————–
You called us out to this spot by pretense
For something other than a emergency meeting -
You lashed us all with a verbal beating

That left us stung and smarting. Hence
Why our friendships with you are now fleeting;
You called us out to this spot by pretense.

The pain is too great for any recompense
You’d give: we sat as you kvetched on, eating
Three hours up in false blame and mistreating.
You called us out to this spot by pretense.

    that was excellent.. i often shy away fro form,, as it causes me to feel stiff and meaningless,, but you pulled this one of without a glitch.. great verse!!

    Thank you. I find that sometimes forms help me organize my thoughts and direct the flow of the poem.
