Gloria in Excelsis Deo

This one *is* actually for the Simply Snickers prompt: write a poem which includes the words “father” and “find”. I decided to take a spiritual take on the word
“father” and wrote this kyrielle. Enjoy.

——————————————————–
O Father God, I find forever encoded in all flesh
Your handiwork, and I see that in Earth below
together in perfection chromatic elements mesh -
Gloria in Excelsis Deo!

And the sky above, a seamless transformation
of blue day and black night, giving gentle snow,
rain, or sun in exact seasonal harmonic orchestration –
Gloria in Excelsis Deo!

And in that vast sky, as day and night backgrounds
change, the thespian cast of planets, against the glow
of stars, dance in your Wu-Li celestial drama profound –
Gloria in Excelsis Deo!

The drama plays multi-staged in fauna and flora
as all together breathe, feed, drink, move, and grow;
surely this clockwork of Creation reflects the splendor of
Gloria in Excelsis Deo;

But perhaps the grandest moment is when I dare
To look in the mirror and see that even though
Sin’s fingerprints reside, that Yours also are there.
Gloria in Excelsis Deo!

  1. This totally speaks to me right now, especially. The past few days have been a rough patch, a real PSALM 23 moment. God is so faithful, and surely He is walking through the darkness with me. Thank you for writing these words, which surely came from His inspiration. Love and blessings, Linda

  2. Thank you for your kind words…I have been going through a rough patch myself for the last few months, but the light at the end of the tunnel is becoming visible.

    I keep having dark moments…and then I see something in his Creation and then am reminded that He is here.

  3. Just doubled back . . . as I finally posted mine too.

    Blessings to you,
    Linda
