Raven
This poem was written off of this week’s One Single Impression prompt, which is permanence (or transience). It was inspired by a post on the Ideas Exchange blog about a prancing crow that Robert by providence captured on film. I suggest you visit his blog, read the post, and look at the photo he caught of the crow – it is awesome.

you
prance for
me, gentle raven
this
moment, transient
by very nature
becomes
permanent by
my digital camera
your
obsidian feathers
forever firmly fixed
your
prancing pictured
in photographic pixels

I haven’t ben to look at the photo yet but I love your poem! A dancing raven, no less, with obsidian feathers. Well written. Well done!
I love this. It is so true…. and (for me) frustratingly not true at the same time. I have dozens of photos of the local crows each trying to capture the moment of seeing/watching them. And they do, but they also don’t. Don’t know if I’m making sense (had a rough couple of days and I’m over tired), but anyway, I love your poem.
Nicole, your chained ha[nay]ku here is so soft and flowing.
This is very nice. I love these hopping bossy-boots birds. The image of obsidian wings rather than lithe ones is a perfect way to communicate transience into permanence. Thanks.
Thank you, all, for your comments. I suggest visiting the other blog and looking at the picture if you have not already – the photo is awesome!
Now I wonder just how permanent pixels themselves are…they can be erased in an instant with one click of the mouse.

you are right…his capture of that magnificent bird is quite amazing…& you put it to words so beautifully with the prompts! brava!!
I can see why the Raven inspired you, he’s quite brave!
Thank you. Ravens and crows have always inspired me, hence even the name of this blog.

This is wonderful. I especially like your mention of its obisidan feathers as I can see its beauty and the sun glinting off of them.
I went to see the raven and see why you were inspired. A very good poem.
G’day Nicole,
I have never been more honoured in an artistic sense.
The Crow was too regal for me to give him a name. I was visited by many birds and have much closer encounters recorded in coloured pixels but this bloke was just king of the yard who bowed to noone other than the sea eagles who never deigned to visit the yard.
Thank you for recording a wonderful impression of my mate.
Robert
Nice poem that adds to the legends and stories of the raven. I enjoyed the pointer to the image.
I truly like the raven. And crows.
You poetry truly describes its regal beauty.

Robert:
You’re very welcome. I had never seen such a close-up photo of a crow and with so much detail, and I found it inspiring. I hope your mate visits again.
me ann my camera Sandy, Pam and gautami:
Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment. Oddly enough, I’d discovered Robert’s photo last week and had wanted to write something about it, but the first attempt was like a…blurred photograph. The prompt on OSI helped me focus my thoughts about that regal crow a bit better.

..thanks for a nice poem..
You’re welcome, zoya.
