To the Stranger

This was written for the Curiosity prompt on Writer’s Island and as a continuation of Stranger, written last week. This is a reverse hay(na)ku chain. Enjoy.

I want to
read the
books

buried behind your
wishing well
eyes,

spin golden embraces
from your
hair,

distill saturated scents
from your
skin,

and follow the
perfumed trail
back

to the garden
of your
birth.

I drop countless
penny glances
into

your wishing wells,
hoping for
echoes,

straining to hear
a sweet
song

composed for me
from your
soul.

Dear stranger, unlock
yourself for
me;

I would gently
hold your
mystery

hidden from heartless,
scorning, common
eyes

in a velvet
heart-shaped
box.

    Liked these lines a lot

  2. Thanks for stopping by and thanks for your compliment, Rambler. I think the toughest thing is to reveal our own inner mysteries to others and trust that they won’t be betrayed or exploited.
