Piano Lesson
This is a hay(na)ku chain written for this week’s Simply Snicker’s prompt – write a poem with the words “magnificent” and “moments”. Enjoy.

I
am an
encyclopedia in flesh
she
slows me
down to re-read
my
words in
mid-air – then
her
fingertips walk
simple stairstep scales
the
most magnificent
moments are manifest
when
her fingers
stride without misstep
across
the black
and white sequences
she
climbs Everest
in a day

Love this! The imagery is striking (like the keys).
Thanks for participating at SIMPLY SNICKERS this week.

By the way . . . if you have any interest in memes, I just started a new daily blogging meme called MEME EXPRESS (on blogspot.com). Welcome aboard, if you like!
Hi Linda, and thanks for stopping by. I’m glad you liked this piece. I’ll have to check out the other blog.

Very nice!
I love how you give the process of playing a wonderful, metaphorical parallel! A very unusual perspective!
Sometimes the smallest victory is the sweetest…especially when you are learning a new skill.
I really enjoyed your poem. Thanks for writing it and posting it as part of this prompt.

Thank you all! Actually, I *was* a piano teacher for a brief period. This was written about one of my former students.

I was caught up in the imagery and also in the style. I have never tried a hay(na)ku, let alone a ‘chain’ of them! I will keep that in mind for future inspiration!
Lovely … and I say that as a musician.
Thank you, Jan and Mad Kane.
