This is a hay(na)ku chain written for this week’s Simply Snicker’s prompt – write a poem with the words “magnificent” and “moments”. Enjoy.

I
am an
encyclopedia in flesh

she
slows me
down to re-read

my
words in
mid-air – then

her
fingertips walk
simple stairstep scales

the
most magnificent
moments are manifest

when
her fingers
stride without misstep

across
the black
and white sequences

she
climbs Everest
in a day

I love how you give the process of playing a wonderful, metaphorical parallel! A very unusual perspective!

Sometimes the smallest victory is the sweetest…especially when you are learning a new skill.

I really enjoyed your poem. Thanks for writing it and posting it as part of this prompt.

Thank you all! Actually, I *was* a piano teacher for a brief period. This was written about one of my former students. :)

I was caught up in the imagery and also in the style. I have never tried a hay(na)ku, let alone a ‘chain’ of them! I will keep that in mind for future inspiration!
