Leonardo
I went back and wrote this chained lune for Poefusion’s Tuesday Title, which was “Brushstrokes and Sage”. Sorry, I couldn’t pass this one up. Enjoy.

————————————————-
even in old
age as an amused, impish
sage, he calls
we hear him
through brushstrokes married to oil
weddings on canvas
old, yellowed notebooks
drawings of what his mind
saw in sketches
the mystery of
inside anatomy, the machinery of
the human body
the machinery of
mechanical wings – joints, connected and
ready to flap
but there’s a
wry smirk inside the ink
inside the paint
as if he
truly had the last laugh
and we’re perplexed
still trying to
decode the pale curved smile
of Mona Lisa

Some mysteries are never to be solved. Very nice lune. Have a nice day.
Lovely. You not only get a sense of the work but of the human being behind it.
The idea of a smirk within the ink is great… and thanks for introducing me to another form that I’ve not thought about using. Will have to try my hand at a few lunes!
I have not forgotten everyone, I have been reading your comments, I have just been really busy….thank you for dropping by and leaving your thoughts.
I have been fascinated by Leonardo since I was in high school. I really think there were still many secret things in his mind that he took to the grave with him, hence the smirk. It’s almost as if he is gently taunting us with what he left behind. But this kind of gentle taunt is forgivable.
