Waterfall Prison

I was able to write something for Friday Five at Poefusion this week…this Friday’s words were: exiguous, waterfall, thoughtless, imperfect, and gifted. This is a chained lune. Enjoy.

—————————————-
exiguous, my life
as it fades to black
my vision blurs

thirst has stolen
sanity from me, trapped behind
this enchanted waterfall

which I cannot
touch or drink, lest I
die upon contact

I, imperfect, cast
in mortal clay, was thoughtless
blinded by love

so when you
gifted your love to me
I didn’t think

of the consequences
of loving the son of
the goddess herself

our love was
never meant to be – you
had been betrothed

to another heavenly
citizen, a princess, before you
came to exist

so I, the
obnoxious human female had to
be dealt with

so I am
left to perish slowly, taunted
by running water

which beckons me
with sweet coolness, but promises
death upon contact

  1. Love the ending. It shows how love can be unattainable while being right in front of you. Why does love have to be so difficult? Nice job. Have a nice day.

  2. Tumblewords says:

You have a talent for form writing, for sure!! This is lovely, layered and lithe!

  3. Gemma says:

The promise of death on contact is a dleightful, dark image! Quite ominous! Enjoyed this!

  4. Cynthia says:

    excellent, spare & clean.

  5. pieceofpie says:

photo is terrific and conveys the story well… who would have known that a thirst could kill… now love thaz another story… as always form is beautiful..

  6. I have not forgotten everyone, I have been reading your comments, I have just been really busy….thank you for dropping by and leaving your thoughts.

Just one more foray into darkness…I have often found that the thing you most want and which is right in front of you is often the thing that can destroy you the worst….
