Incense Sacrifice

Sunday, September 28, 2008

This sedoka was written for One Single Impression prompt #31: “Fleeting”. Enjoy.

-Nicole

———————————
musk and patchouli
dance in time-release ribbons
of pungent smoke through the air

petals and greens die
sacrificed by burning – once
spent, Egypt is forgotten

I Like this Haiku very much. Oh Boy, talk about images.this has it all. I love the burnt offerings going up in smoke. I would say they are prayers to God. But then…………..

Hi Nicole, yes, that smoke mixed with the scent of ‘hemp’ brings ‘fleeting’ memories. Now used in the US as a hair conditioner for dreadlocks. :-) [Google is my friend.]
I liked your poem, I don’t understand the significance of Egypt.
