Incense Sacrifice
This sedoka was written for One Single Impression prompt #31: “Fleeting”. Enjoy.

musk and patchouli
dance in time-release ribbons
of pungent smoke through the air
petals and greens die
sacrificed by burning – once
spent, Egypt is forgotten

Oh, I like this one! Thank you Raven’s Wing…the pungency of this poem is going to linger for awhile–
Thank you–
Wow, this is just splendid!! I love how you’ve braided all the elements together, and then the clincher at the end “Egypt is forgotten”
So visual I can almost smell it
Beautufully done. And the last line takes you to that time.
This teased more nose. Enjoyed.
I Like this Haiku very much. Oh Boy, talk about images.this has it all. I love the burnt offerings going up in smoke. I would say they are prayers to God. But then…………..

Hi Nicole, yes, that smoke mixed with the scent of ‘hemp’ brings ‘fleeting’ memories. Now used in the US as a hair conditioner for dreadlocks.
[Google is my friend.]
I liked your poem, I don’t understand the significance of Egypt.
This one sizzles, I like it.
Incense offers a timeless aroma. I love it for that. This is lovely.Thanks.
your words bring to mind an image that i love…when i blow out my prayer candle, i imagine the fleeting whisps of smoke rising heavenward
The scent is real! Lovely work…
