5th: Open Mic (The first show of the new year)
12th: IWPS and WOWPS finalist Nicole Homer and National Poetry Slam Finalist Omar ‘Ion’ Holman FEATURE! Also the first Slam for Team contention. Team rules and schedule go to the website
19th: Open Mic
26th: Battle of Ohio Slam II! Cleveland, two Columbus Teams and Dayton will face off against each other. This is THE Slam to see and its going down at Writing Wrongs.

“It’s the 2nd Annual Battle of Ohio Poetry Slam and its coming back to Columbus! This time the Urban Spirit Coffee Shop will play host when teams from:

  • CLEVELAND
  • COLUMBUS – WRITER’S BLOCK
  • COLUMBUS – WRITING WRONGS
  • DAYTON

All meet up to duke it out on stage. You DON’T want to miss this show!

There will be a very limited Open Mic, so get there early to reserve your spot on the list!”

The next Wet Ink show is Thursday, October 30, in Columbus, OH!

What is Wet Ink, you ask? It is an erotic poetry night held quarterly, hosted by Donielle Monique and Vernell Bristow of Writer’s Block. This show will have Open Mic and you are invited and encouraged to either show up in sexy garb (i.e. lingerie) or your Halloween costume!

And this time…there will be Wet Ink’s first ever EROTIC SLAM!!!!

Columbus Arts Festival Poetry Slam

I am participating in the Columbus Arts Festival Poetry Slam on Saturday! The slam will be happening on Saturday, June 7, between 8:00 P.M. and 10:00 P.M. at the Poetry Corner, which is at the corner of Cleveland Avenue and Gay Street, right across the street from the Columbus College of Art and Design in downtown Columbus. Admission is free for the festival. So if you’re in Columbus, come out Saturday night and watch me get my slam on! And for that matter, come out for the poets at the Poetry Corner too (various performance times Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). It should prove to be an awesome weekend of poetry!

2008 Rust Belt Poetry Slam: Awesome!

Greetings readers!

My fiance and I attended the finals for this year’s Rust Belt Poetry Slam last night. We decided to go to last night’s finals bout because a) there was an open mic right before the slam (I read “Be” at the open mic), and b) we wanted to see what the finals would be like, never having attended a poetry slam of this notoriety and magnitude.
