Hormonal Winter

This hay(na)ku chain was written for Poefusion’s “Tuesday Title” this week (Hormonal Winter). Enjoy.

season of
birth and possibility

her body
has passed on

she is
far from dead

succumbing to
the stillness of

forests and fields

quiet of
sparkling solstice solitude

springtime’s rise
within her mind

the season
of new birth

just moved
northward within her

disappeared forever –
wisdom now blooms

  1. Though birth and possibility have moved on I want to assume her new found wisdom will open new horizons. Nice job. Have a nice day.

makes me think of beginnings of a new winter season, where even new life can rise from the cold, I like the part – succumbing to the stillness of inner snow-covered forests and fields – not settling but letting time carry life to another beginning, at least that’s how I read it

That the “season” has “just moved northward” is wonderful. This is a strong piece.

  4. I thought of the same, but to do it in this form, is true poetry….and skill beautifully done.
