I’ve read through some of your work – it is very moving. Thank you – Siobhan

Thank you for the complement. I will be posting much more work, especially with an upcoming challenge I am participating in to write 100 poems during the month of April. 🙂 For those of you who have no idea what challenge I’m talking about, check out http://fringemonkey.wordpress.com/2008/03/18/lets-start-a-revolution/ for more details.

Thank you so much for the comment on my poem. I don’t consider myself a poet at all, sometimes I just write what’s on my mind. Coming from you, the compliment really means so much. Thanks again and have a great weekend!

  4. No problem. I would say that anyone who desires to express him or herself through writing poetry is poet, so by that definition, you are indeed a poet, and what I saw was poetry, and very good poetry at that. Keep writing. 🙂

I enjoy reading your work. I was wondering, would you recommend an open mic night for someone who has never read in public before?

  6. Well, here’s what I did: I went to an open mic night, with the intent of observing first. I ended up reading my first night. It’s pretty much up to you, but I can tell you that open mics would probably be a good place to start. As I said, you can go and watch for a few nights, and then jump in and sign up. Or you can be a crazy fool like me and read the first night. 🙂 It’s up to you.

Have you ever read “The Idiot’s Guide to Slam Poetry”? There is some good information about open-micing and slamming. It’s written by the slampappy himself, Marc “So What” Smith. More info from Worldcat.org here on this book: http://www.worldcat.org/search?qt=worldcat_org_bks&q=9781592572465&fq=dt%3Abks

    Thanks, and good luck,
